FAQs

Do you have a question? We’re here to help.

  • What Does 'Class B' Mean?

Class B autoclaves provide the highest level of sterilisation possible. All of our brand new autoclaves are class B. This includes the D and T series and laboratory machines.

Some secondhand autoclaves may not be class B.

  • Are Icanclaves approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration?

Yes. The TGA number is ARTG 226510 (medical device).

  • What Tracking and Documentation Features Come With the Autoclave?

Two tracking and documentation features come with the autoclave.

    1. The autoclave has an inbuilt thermal printer which prints cycle receipts. As this is a thermal printer, no printer ribbon or ink is required to be replaced.

    2. USB and USB port. The autoclave comes with an inbuilt USB port and USB. When inserted, the USB can save all cycle data digitally. To backup, simply plug the USB into your computer. No fancy software is required.

  • Can I Use Tap Water in My Autoclave?

Photo of Aqualife Mark 3 reverse osmosis water filtration system commonly used by dentists, doctors, podiatrists, and physiotherapists to produce high quality filtered water suitable for an autoclave (steam steriliser).

If you are buying an autoclave for the first time, you may not know that autoclaves require high quality water to run. Tap water can cause damage and result in the autoclave to stop running.

Our customers purchase distilled or demineralised water from local supermarkets or hardware stores or use water from a reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration system.

Some autoclaves can be plumbed directly to RO systems for automatic filling. Talk to us if you're interested in this option.

  • Where Should the Autoclave Be Set Up?

Our benchtop autoclaves require a flat, sturdy surface such as a bench top or table near a standard 10 amp power point.

  • What Sterilisation Consumables Will I Need to Buy?

If you choose to save your cycle data as printed receipts, you will need replacement thermal paper rolls. We stock these.

The other most common items our customers purchase are helix kits, class 6 indicators, sterilisation pouches and vertical racks.
